Important Notices Regarding Products

Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry made an announcement on "Future recurrence prevention of carbon monoxide poisoning accident caused by unvented-type small hot-water heaters" on February 9, 2007.Upon the announcement, Rinnai Corporation decided to provide free inspection to the users of "unvented-type small hot-water heater RUS-5RX" (manufactured from July 1991 to January 1995) and "unvented-type small hot-water heater RUS-51BT " (produced from May 1994 to January 1997), which are both manufactured by Rinnai. The details are stated below.
Moreover, through various advertisements  and public relations activities, Rinnai will instruct users either to turn on a fan or keep a window open for ventilation at the use of an unvented-type small hot-water heater. In addition, we will request users to contact us or the shop of your purchase in the case that the fire of a heater frequently goes out during the use.

   2. Notice to customers

      (1) Rinnai will post an announcement advertisement on the morning paper of February 12 to provide the precautions for the use of small hot-water heaters, and to inform about free inspection.
      (2) In addition to the advertisement above, we will notify the information through TV program and commercial that Rinnai sponsors.

   3. Inspection items

      An inspector will provide free inspection by visiting each customer who requested for free inspection by phone or other methods in order.
      (1)Inspection process  : An inspector confirms the appearance of product (soot and dust), and measure the density of carbon monoxide (CO) during the use.

      1. Confirmation of customer's usage status (Including model and manufacturing number)

      2. Checking the service condition of appliance

         Ignition and extinction test

         Ignition and extinction test

      3. Inspection of appliance

         Removing external plates, the inspector will clean dust and  soot within the range that we can handle.

      4. Again, the service condition of the appliance is checked.

      5. The staff will explain the inspection result and usage precautions  to the customer.

      (2) Required time: about 30 minutes/unit
