Important Notice Regarding Product Safety

Regarding the carbon monoxide poisoning accident caused by Rinnai's unvented-type small hot-water heater
We request the users of an unvented-type small hot-water heater to make sure to ventilate during the use.
Following the instructions from Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, we will urgently investigate the root cause of the accidents.

1. The sequence of events

On February 7, 2007, there was a fatal accident related to an unvented-type small hot-water heater with incomplete combustion prevention function manufactured by Rinnai in Kanagawa.
It is considered that the accidents were caused by carbon monoxide poisoning.
Following investigation of past accident records, it was confirmed that there were four accidents involving people either killed or injured because of a product of the same model or similar model.
We are currently investigating the root cause of the accidents to identify common factors which triggered the accidents.
