Gas bath boiler

Trouble caused by the deterioration of equipment

Indicators related to ignition operation

Indicators related to ignition operation

An operating switch becomes stiffer to operate than before.
A pilot burner no longer ignites on the first try
The igniting noise is louder.
"Error" message appears frequently.

Actual case A pilot burner got clogged with dust and it caused difficulties in firing, which resulted in abnormal ignition.

Things that are observed while hot-water is supplied and bathwater is reheated

Things that are observed while hot-water is supplied and bathwater is reheated

Water temperature suddenly increases or decreases.
The temperature of water is generally lower than before.
It takes longer to heat up a bath than before.
The pilot burner sometimes shuts off automatically.
A loud noise or odor can be detected.
A timer is not responding well. (For a product with a timer.)

Actual case The timer function of a remote controller did not operate correctly, and the bathwater became too hot.

Caution

The timer function of a remote controller did not operate correctly, and the bathwater became too hot.

When taking a bath, please check the water temperature first with your hand.
When taking a shower, please check the water temperature first with your hand.
During and immediately after use, the temperature of the equipment's main body, exhaust pipe and its immediate surroundings becomes high. Please do not touch these areas.
Do not touch the hot water coming out of the circulation port while bathwater is heating.

Inspection and repair

Actual case Part of the internal components of the equipment got clogged, which resulted in incomplete combustion.

Visual indicators

Visual indicators

Part of equipment was discolored.
Water is leaking from the equipment.
There is accumulated dust in the air supply and exhaust openings.
The area under the equipment is constantly wet.
A hole was made with the equipment.

Actual case Due to the water leak from an internal component, the gas area was corroded, which caused abnormal ignition and the deformation of the equipment.
Actual case Part of the air supply and exhaust pipes got clogged with dust, and it gave a negative impact on combustion condition, which resulted in incomplete combustion.

Problems that could be caused by incorrect usage

It is dangerous to improperly use a product. Please consult the user manual for proper usage.

Actual case Since a bath tub was unplugged, the bath tub was heated with no water in it, and was deformed.
Since a bath tub was unplugged, the bath tub was heated with no water in it, and was deformed.
Actual case Since the bathwater was drained when a drainage outlet was clogged, the equipment was submerged under water, which caused abnormal ignition and the deformation of equipment.

Caution

Since the bathwater was drained when a drainage outlet was clogged, the equipment was submerged under water, which caused abnormal ignition and the deformation of equipment.

When equipment is submerged underwater, water enters into the equipment. When it is subsequently used, the flame may burn stronger than before, causing fire and damage to the equipment or incomplete combustion.. When an incomplete combustion occurs due to problems with the equipment’s air supply and exhaust openings, generated carbon monoxide may filter into the bathroom. In the worst case, this could result in a fatality.
To avoid submerging equipment under water, please frequently clean the drainage outlet so it does not become clogged.

Actual case Because a user repeatedly attempted to ignite the boiler, the equipment filled with gas. When it did ignite, it did so abnormally, which deformed the equipment.

Caution

Because a user repeatedly attempted to ignite the boiler, the equipment filled with gas. When it did ignite, it did so abnormally, which deformed the equipment. Because a user repeatedly attempted to ignite the boiler, the equipment filled with gas. When it did ignite, it did so abnormally, which deformed the equipment.

Precautions to prevent abnormal ignition (especially for balanced-flue system bath boiler with a chimney)
When a pilot burner does not light within 15 seconds, please return the appliance’s valve switch to the [Stop] position. After waiting for two minutes to let the gas from the attempted ignition escape, you may try to ignite the pilot burner again.
When changing the switch from the [Pilot burner] position to the [Stop] position, please wait for two minutes before attempting to ignite the burner again.
If the burner’s flame shuts off, or the temperature of the water drops, turn the hot-water supply switch and the appliance’s valve switch to their [Stop] positions. Please wait for 20 minutes before operating the equipment again.
If you do not wait long enough before attempting to reignite the burner, you may cause an abnormal ignition, resulting in a loud noise and/or equipment deformation.

Actual case There was a water leak from the equipment, but the user kept using it without repair. Due to the water leakage through the internal parts, the gas components were corroded. Then, gas was leaked, which caused abnormal ignition and the deformation of equipment.

Actual case A user used a spray can in the bathroom immediately before igniting the pilot burner, causing the combustible gas from the spray can to catch on fire.
A user used a spray can in the bathroom immediately before igniting the pilot burner, causing the combustible gas from the spray can to catch on fire.
Actual case Since equipment was used while the air supply opening connected to the outdoors was closed, there was no sufficient air, and incomplete combustion occurred.

Caution

Since equipment was used while the air supply opening connected to the outdoors was closed, there was no sufficient air, and incomplete combustion occurred.

Make sure that the air intake and exhaust ports (top) are not blocked or clogged with snow, bird nests, fallen leaves, etc.
If they are blocked, there is a risk of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning due to exhaust gas flowing back into the room.

Actual case A user used a fan while using a bath boiler, and the exhaust air flew backward into the room.

Caution

A user used a fan while using a bath boiler, and the exhaust air flew backward into the room.

When a bath boiler with a chimney (indoor, CF type) is used for heating bathwater or a shower, please do not use a fan in a kitchen.
Exhaust air in a bath boiler may flow backward, causing a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Actual case A window near the bathwater heater was left open, allowing exhaust gas to enter.

Caution

Caution

Close the windows near the bathwater heater when you are heating the bathwater or using the shower.
Failure to do so may allow exhaust gas to enter the bathroom and cause carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning.

Actual case When a user tried to use the equipment while it had protective sheeting applied (in order to paint an exterior wall), the result was abnormal ignition and deformation of the equipment.

Caution

When painting exterior walls, etc., do not use the equipment while the exhaust ports (exhaust port tops, air intake/exhaust port tops) are covered with protective (vinyl) sheeting. Doing so may cause incomplete combustion, resulting in carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning or fire.

Caution

Actual case After the equipment was installed, a user applied corrugated plating to the area surrounding the air intake and exhaust ports (top), resulting in stagnation of exhaust air and incomplete combustion.

Caution

Caution

Do not enclose the exhaust ports (exhaust port top, air intake/exhaust port top) of indoor equipment with corrugated plating or vinyl. Doing so may cause incomplete combustion, resulting in carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning or fire.

Actual case A user used the equipment while a piece of wood was leaning against it, causing the wood to catch fire.

Caution

Do not place flammable materials, such as paper or wood, around the unit, its exhaust port, air intake and exhaust ports, or exhaust stack. Doing so may cause a fire.
